Sonic! Software Planning — the studio that would spin off as Camelot Software Planning in 1995 — built the perfect gateway into tactical RPGs: readable battles, spectacular class promotions, and a continuous world to explore between fights, dropping the chapter structure of the first game. Hunting down secret characters like the werewolf or the master swordsman was the stuff of schoolyard legend. That same team, later as Camelot, would carry that same sensibility into Golden Sun and the Mario Tennis and Golf series.
